Upper Peninsula woman dead in shooting involving State Trooper

Authorities say a 50-year-old woman has died following a shooting involving a state police trooper in Michigan's Upper Peninsula.

The trooper and a Marquette County sheriff's deputy responded Thursday night to the home in Marquette County's Humboldt Township following a 911 call reporting a domestic dispute involving a firearm.

Police say the officers were confronted by the woman, who was armed, and initial indications are that the trooper fatally shot her.

Police say the woman is from Champion Township.

Her name wasn't immediately released.

The shooting is under investigation.
