Chief Deputy Charles Lemon tells us the Marlboro County Sheriff's Office called residents in the area through its dispatch system to alert them about the search. This story previously contained a reference to residents being called through "a reverse 911 system." We have since been informed by attorneys for REVERSE 911 that REVERSE 911 is the registered trademark of Plant Equipment Inc. and REVERSE 911 should be used exclusively in reference to PlantCML products and services. We apologize for the error.

Blenheim Primary School and Blenheim Elementary/Middle School have been put on lock down as a precaution.

Marlboro County School Officials say the school day will continue as normal, the only exception is that students won't go outside.

Officials say parents can sign their children out of class, but they advise against that.
