Surfside Beach police arrested two teenagers in connection with a residential burglary that happened Wednesday.

Erica Osborne, 18, of Surfside Beach and Asia Lewis, 17, of Surfside Beach are charged with Burglary, Petit Larceny and Malicious Damage to Real Property.

Officers responded to a report of a residential burglary on 8th Ave. North in Surfside Beach Wednesday, according to a release. Police say the suspects fled the area, but officers were able to obtain detailed descriptions of the suspects from a witness.

During the investigation, the suspects were located walking on Highway 17 in Surfside Beach, according to the report. Plain-clothes officers began surveillance on the pair and they were followed to a local business where they attempted to sell stolen items from the burglary, police said.

SBPD Chief of Police Rodney Keziah said that this is another prime example of community members and law enforcement working together. The detailed description given by the witness was a key component in making this arrest, said Keziah.

Both teens are being held at J. Reuben Long Detention Center pending a bond hearing Friday.
