Firefighters found the bodies of a man and woman following a fire at a home on Highway 71 South in the Red Springs community of Robeson County Saturday night.
A passerby saw flames coming from the home and called 911.
The victims names aren't being released until their families are notified.
The fire started in the garage and spread to the kitchen, according to Red Springs Fire Chief Tim Beasley.
Firefighters were able to keep it from spreading to other parts of the home.
The victims bodies were found in the living room, according to Beasley.
He says at this point they believe the fire was accidental.
"Just one of those things that happen. It's unfortunate. We didn't suspect any foul play or anything," said Beasley.
An autopsy will be performed on the bodies to determine their exact cause of death.
Robeson County Sheriff's Office and the State Bureau of Investigations are helping investigate the fire.
