Two injured in hit and run, troopers searching for driver

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WPDE) - A Pee Dee man died after a hit and run in Myrtle Beach early Saturday morning. The crash happened at 3 a.m. on highway 501 on top of the Waccamaw Pottery bridge.

Senior Trooper Bridget Wyant said two people on a moped were traveling north on highway 501 when they were hit from behind.

Both victims were taken to Grand Strand Regional Medical Center.

Deputy Coroner Darris Fowler said the passenger, 20-year-old Tyshawn Johnson of Marion, died just before noon from his injuries.

Troopers are looking are looking for a 2005 - 2012 white or silver Nissan Pathfinder with damage to the left front of the vehicle and a missing left front wheel well cover.
