Two in custody in Murrells Inlet stabbing death

Horry County police Sgt. Robert Kegler said they have two people in custody in connection with a homicide on Van Buren Road near Murrells Inlet Tuesday.

Dustin Clifford Autry, 24, and Joshua Cody Wilson, 25, are both charged with murder in the death of Chris Nance, 44.

Wilson is Nance's nephew, and Autry was Wilson's roommate, said Kegler.

Paula Nance, Chris's sister, called EMS about 11:30 a.m. Tuesday about a suspicious death. EMS called police when they got there.

It appears Nance died after being stabbed multiple times, Kegler said.

Police say both suspects participated in the crime and then disposed of the weapon in the ocean.

The incident occurred after a fight among the men, according to Kegler.

The family has a previous history of domestic violence.

In June, Nance was found guilty of two counts of Assault and Battery third degree and credited with time served.

According to a police report, Nance assaulted one of his other nephews who is Wilson's younger brother.
