Gearlene Boutista Delarosa, 51, and Santana Waitous Goff, 22, are in custody after an assault in Nichols Saturday that turned deadly.
Jerome Bessent, 60, was pronounced dead at 3:00 a.m. Monday, according to Tony Hendrick, with the Horry County Coroner's Office.
On May 17th, around 9:30 a.m., officers with the Horry County Police Department responded to a home on Willoughby Road. When they arrived, they found Bessent with a large amount of trauma to the head.
Detectives said they learned Bessent and Goff got in a physical fight after a verbal altercation.
Delarosa then grabbed an aluminum baseball bat and hit Bessent several times in the head, detectives said.
Delarosa is charged with Attempted Murder, but Horry County police expect to upgrade her charge to Voluntary Manslaughter. Police charged Goff with Accessory After the Fact of a Felony.
