Two Horry County schools named 2014 Palmetto's Finest

Midland Elementary, in Galivants Ferry, and Forestbrook Middle, near Myrtle Beach, have been named 2014 Palmetto's Finest by the SC Association of School Administrators.

Also chosen were Okatie Elementary in Beaufort County, Camden High in Camden County, and Fairfield Magnet School for Math and Science in Fairfield County.

"The Palmetto's Finest award winners represent the many innovative schools in our state," said SCASA's Molly Spearman. "They are community centers of learning where students are given personalized instruction and high expectations."

SCASA is the professional organization for school leaders in South Carolina.

The selection process for the Palmetto's Finest Schools included self-evaluation, peer review and on-site examinations for each school. The SCASA says student achievement was the foundation for all award criteria.
