Two people have drowned after being caught in rip currents at North Carolina beaches.
Brunswick County Emergency Management Director Anthony Marzano said William Nicolaro, 72, from Palm Beach, Florida was pronounced dead at a hospital.
Officials say he went under the surf off Ocean Isle Beach.
Nicolaro's son was taken to the hospital, but did make it to shore.
