Two people have been charged in connection with the murder of David Jenkins, 48, according to Captain Michael Nunn with the Florence County Sheriff's Office.
Nathaniel Nesmith, 51, of Hemingway, was arrested on December 17, 2013 and charged with Armed Robbery While Armed With a Deadly Weapon, Kidnapping, Criminal Conspiracy, Possession of a Deadly Weapon During the Commission of a Violent Crime, and one count of Murder
Donald Roy Dollard, 57, of Hemingway, was also arrested on December 17, 2013 and charged with Armed Robbery While Armed With a Deadly Weapon, Kidnapping, Criminal Conspiracy and one count of Murder.
Jenkins was shot to death outside a store on Aline Street in Florence two weeks ago. His murder came five years after the brutal killing of his 17-year-old son Jeremiah Jenkins, who was beaten to death by gang members.
Investigators believe Nesmith and Dollard entered the premises store on Aline Street, armed with a handgun, intending to rob the people inside. According to a release from the Florence County Sheriff's Office, the people inside, including Jenkins, were restrained and prohibited by the suspects from leaving.
During the incident, investigators say Jenkins was fatally shot. The identity of the suspects was the result of an anonymous tip to law enforcement after surveillance pictures from inside the store were released.
The Investigation into this incident is ongoing and additional charges are possible.
