Two arrests made in armed robbery at Florence convenience store

A teenager and a Florence man are being charged in an armed robbery that happened early Sunday morning at a convenience store at 2301 Hoffmeyer Road in Florence.

Florence County sheriff's deputies arrested Rayquan Lamonte Taylor, 17, of Florence and Matthew Franks Thomas, 23, of Florence on Sunday. They are both charged with Armed Robbery.

Deputies said the men went into the store around 2:30 a.m. while wearing masks and demanded money from a store clerk at gunpoint.

They got away with cash and merchandise.

A short time later, they were found at a nearby apartment where the men were arrested and stolen items were recovered.

Taylor and Thomas are being held at the Florence County Detention Center on $30,000.00 surety bonds.

Thomas is also being held on a Magistrates Court bench warrant.
