Tupelo Honey Cafe will be replacing Tommy Bahama in the heart of The Market Common.
According to a news release from The Market Common, Tupelo Honey Cafe will open in the early spring of 2015.
The Asheville-based company is renovating the location on Howard Avenue and once completed it will have 270 seats and a full bar, as well as a lots of outdoor seating.
A Tommy Bahama restaurant and bar was in that location until September of 2013 when it announced that the restaurant and bar had closed, but the attached retail store would remain open.
A Market Common spokeswoman confirmed Wednesday that the Tommy Bahama retail store will remain open.
Tupelo Honey Cafe currently has 7 locations in the Carolinas and Tennessee. The company is opening a new location in Raleigh in the fall of 2014 and another location in Atlanta in 2015.
