Trial date set for woman charged in crash that killed a nurse

Georgia Woodberry

Georgia Woodberry, 30, is charged with Murder, Attempted Murder and Discharging a Firearm in a car crash that killed a Florence nurse last April.

She will be tried on July 29.

Florence County Sheriff's Deputies say Woodberry had been stalking her former boyfriend for quite some time and knew the route he would travel.

Deputies say Woodberry was chasing her ex-boyfriend and his female friend on National Cemetery Road at Freedom Boulevard.

They say she shot into the car, hitting the woman in the leg.

Lori Pruett, 36, was traveling on the road when the car Woodberry was chasing crashed into Pruett, deputies said.

She died on scene.

Pruett had just moved to Florence and was working as a registered nurse at Carolinas Hospital System.

Twelfth Circuit Solicitor Ed Clements says Judge Craig Brown ruled statements made by Woodberry to investigators were freely and voluntarily given and are admissible during the trial.

Woodberry has been held at the Florence County Detention Center since her arrest.
