An 18-wheeler collided with a Darlington County school bus on SC Highway 151 near Pine Ridge Road in Hartsville just after 3 p.m. Monday.
Darlington County School District public information officer Audrey Childers says it appears the tractor trailer's air brakes failed and it hit the school bus.
Eight students and the bus driver were taken to the hospital but none of the injuries are serious, according to Childers.
Childers says there were 22 students on the bus, including the bus driver.
Childers added the bus was taking elementary and early childhood students home. She isn't sure what school the students attend.
Highway 151 has been reopened and traffic is moving.
The driver of the tractor trailer has been ticketed for disregarding a traffic signal after he failed to stop at a red light, according to Lance Cpl. Sonny Collins with the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
