A portion of Brockington Street at Main Street is closed following a sewage overflow, according to Timmonsville Town Manager Mary Bines.
She says there's a break in the line that's caused the overflow.
"We put out lime to disinfect the area. We've notified citizens, and we're working with contractors to see if we can get it fixed. We're working diligently to report this," said Bines.
Bines adds the quality of water isn't affected and there is no need for residents to boil their water before using it.
The town has had problems all year with its sewer system.
The Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC) says it is aware of the problems and is monitoring how the town is handling the situation.
