A group of athletes in the Pee Dee was successful in their campaign to help their coach to get his old job back.
Three seniors at Timmonsville High School started a petition asking Coach Perry Stokes keep his job as the girls varsity head basketball coach.
Last week, he was offered the boys baseball coach position, not girls basketball.
District officials say Stokes retired five years ago, but continued teaching and coaching under a program that allows retirees to continue to work for up to five years.
His five years ended this year.
Officials say he wasn't singled out or given unfair treatment.
Last night, Stokes was approved to resume his job as head coach of the girls varsity basketball team.
