Investigators with the Florence County Sheriff's Office arrested three teens, saying they attacked two men on November 26 on East National Cemetery Road in Florence.
Christopher Allen Thomas, 17, of Effingham, Robert Caleb Matthews, 19, of Florence, and Matthew Hind, 18, of Darlington, are charged with Lynching/Assault and Battery by Mob.
The suspects attacked the victims at a party, according to investigators. The victims required medical attention for their injuries.
Under South Carolina law, a mob is defined as "the assemblage of two or more persons, without color or authority of law, for the premeditated purpose and with the premeditated intent of committing an act of violence upon the person of another."
Lynching is a misdemeanor under South Carolina law which is punishable by up to one year in prison.
