The three Dilmar buildings on Main Street in Dillon, that have been there for more than 50 years, are coming down. City leaders say they couldn't find anyone to redevelop the buildings and they aren't structurally sound.
They plan to turn the area into a parking lot and a walkway with trees.
Some residents say the buildings are landmarks.
"It was something that you would look forward to seeing, the old buildings and stuff, but then like I said, tearing them down and for what they gone put in the place of it will be a remembering moment of everything because you could say that's where I used to go at," said Sherby Williams.
Crews hope to have all the buildings demolished and the lot cleared by the end of the week.
