'Thankful' is the word of the day for pharmacist Daniel Bundrick, who chased off would-be armed robbers when he pulled his own gun and started shooting at Surfside Beach Pharmacy.

"This is not something you really plan on, but you do have to think about and have a plan, which we did and the plan worked out great this time," said Bundrick.

A plan that includes surveillance cameras and a gun.

"I've been a concealed weapons permit holder for years now and I practice on the range. So, you know, I feel fairly comfortable but, you know, when it's a real, live situation it is different. But, I felt that I was prepared and kept my wits about me," said Bundrick. But, he said, they certainly didn't teach him to shoot at would-be robbers in school.

Bundrick said he hopes to learn from the experience.

"We're going to look at procedures and our security and make sure it's strong and tighter," said Bundrick.

The pharmacist believes his pharmacy was a target because the robbers wanted drugs.

"Pharmacies really don't keep that much money--most people pay with credit card--so, with a pharmacy, there's medications, mainly pain meds," said Bundrick.

Surfside Beach police are still looking for the two suspects and ask for anyone with information to call 843-913-6368.
