15-year-old and friend arrested for beating up stepfather: 'Leave my momma alone'
Loris, S.C. (WPDE) —
A 15-year-old and his 18-year-old friend have been arrested for beating up the 15-year-old's stepfather, according to Horry County Police Department officials.
A HCPD incident report shows that, around 4 a.m. on Oct. 17, officers were dispatched to a home on Clio Road.
The responding officer met with a victim, who said he and his wife had a small argument earlier that night.
During the argument, the victim said one of the suspects, his 15-year-old stepson, walked up to him and pointed a silver handgun at him, saying "leave my momma alone."
The victim said his wife and stepson then left the home in his truck around midnight.
After that, the victim said he went to sleep. According to the report, some time later, the victim was awoken by someone next to his bed.
"The victim stated that the next thing he knew someone starting hitting him in the face with something made of metal. The victim stated that they continued to hit him and then fled the residence," the report said.
The victim said he could not see his attacker because of injuries and blood in his eyes, but he could hear the voice of his stepson and the second suspect.
According to police, the second suspect has been identified as Chance Lacy Johnson, 18, of Conway.
The victim described Johnson as his stepson's best friend, police said. The victim also said he never heard his wife's voice during the attack.
Police said the victim had a silver Taurus .32 caliber revolver stolen from his shop several nights before the attack and he believed the gun his stepson pointed at him could be his.
The incident report states that the victim had "several severe lacerations on his face," as well as "a major cut on his left temple area of his face to the point that I could see bone."
Police observed blood "on the kitchen and bathroom floors," and "all over the victim's bed where he stated that he was assaulted."
Officers on scene also located a window that had been broken from the inside.
The victim was then transported to the hospital for a medical evaluation.
Following the victim's report, officers responded to Johnson's address.
At that location, officers found a GMC Yukon matching the description of Johnson's car provided by the victim. Tire tracks at Johnsons' home also matched tracks at the victim's home.
Inside the vehicle, officers said they observed blood in plain view, according to the report. More blood was found on the floor of the home's front porch.
While at Johnson's home, members of Johnson's family approached officers, and Johnson's parents were contacted.
Around that same time, officers at Johnson's home got word from officers with the victim that the victim "had facial bone fractures and a possible brain bleed."
Investigators were called to Johnson's home to assist with the situation.
The report shows that Johnson's mother then knocked on his back door, and Johnson answered the door.
Police said the victim's wife, stepson, and Johnson were all inside of the home at the time, and came outside upon officers' request.
HCPD detectives determined that there was probable cause to arrest both the stepson and Johnson.
Johnson was taken to Horry County Detention Center (HCDC). He has been charged with attempted murder, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, and unlawful store, keep, possession of a machine gun or sawed off shotgun or rifle.
The HCDC website shows that Johnson was released on $30,000 bond on Oct. 18 around 6:37 p.m.
The 15-year-old stepson was taken to the hospital for medical clearance and then to the Department of Juvenile Justice, the report said.
