Teen in court on charges he lied about shooting his younger sister

A 16-year-old Florence boy appeared in court Thursday for a detention hearing regarding to charges that he lied about shooting his 14

old sister last week.

He's charged with Unlawful Possession of a Weapon and Giving False Information To Police.

The teens were playing with a gun on Meadors Farm Road last Friday when it went off hitting

the boys

14-year-old sister, according to Florence police.

Three other teens were present when the gun went off.

The teens initially told police someone pulled up in a car and fires several shots at them, Major Carlos

Raines said.

He added the teens said they lied because they were scared.

Family Court Judge Tim Pogue released the boy from the SC Department of Juvenile Justice to the custody of his mother.

He is on house arrest and can only leave the home to attend school or if he's with his mother or another responsible adult.

If he violates the conditions of his house arrest, he will be sent back to DJJ.

Police have charged Dontavious Hickson,19, with Unlawful Sale of a Pistol.

They say he sold the gun to the 16-year-old boy and that was used in the accidental shooting of the teen's sister.
