Teen charged in Timmonsville deadly crash

Zacchaeus Morris, 19, is charged with Felony Driving Under the Influence and Leaving the Scene of a Collision Involving Death, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

Morris was driving a 2003 Oldsmobile on Tanyard Street in Timmonsville around 9:15 Thursday night when he hit a woman walking in the road, Lcpl. Sonny Collins said.

According to SCHP, Morris left the scene of the accident but later returned to talk with investigators.

Morris is being held at the Florence County Detention Center.

Florence County Coroner Keith Von Lutcken identified the victim as 50-year-old Veronica Damon. An autopsy will be performed on Damon Friday morning.
