Monday is Tax Day, the deadline for filing annual income taxes with the IRS.
The agency said 97 million American taxpayers already submitted their tax forms by the first of this month.
About 90 percent were done electronically.
The average refund is $2,755, which is down $40 from last year.
If you owe taxes this year but you're not ready to file, you'll need to pay at least 90% of the amount due when you apply for an extension.
Otherwise, you will have late fees piling up until you've paid in full.
