Suspect on the run after traffic stop in Atlantic Beach

Law enforcement officials using a canine unit to search for a man wanted by Atlantic Beach police

A suspect is still on the run near Atlantic Beach after he ran away from police following a traffic stop.

Police are looking for Jamie Lamont Riggins.

Police made the traffic stop near 31st Avenue around 1:45 p.m. Tuesday.

During the stop, the suspect was patted down and 60 bags of heroin and several bags of crack cocaine fell out of his pockets, according to Atlantic Beach Police Interim Chief Timothy Taylor.

Taylor said the man then ran away through the woods.

Horry County Police's canine unit was called in to help search the woods for him.

Another person was also arrested in the traffic stop for driving under suspension.
