Suspect named in Christmas Eve death of Darlington Man

Darlington City Police have named a suspect wanted for the murder of a 38-year-old man Christmas Eve.

Around 8 p.m., the suspect, Jason Jones, 31, along with others, rushed into the home of Antwain Demetrius Jones on Coker Street in Darlington with the intent to rob him, according to Public Information Officer Sgt. Kim Nelson.

Antwain Jones died at the scene, and Darlington County Coroner Todd Hardee has ruled the death a homicide.

Jason Jones is also being charged with possession of a weapon during a violent crime, attempted murder and armed robbery, Nelson said.

He may be driving a brown or tan Dodge Durango with tag number ISI 195 and is considered armed and dangerous.
