Surfside man kidnapped and told to take money out of bank

Surfside Beach Police say just after 9:00 Friday morning, a man walked into the TD Bank on Highway 17 and said he needed help because a man with a gun was forcing him to withdraw money.

Officers found the victim who told them three people kidnapped him in a parking lot at gunpoint and took him to the bank so he could take out money.

Surfside officers detained three suspects in the bank's parking lot and found a handgun and a small amount of marijuana. The victim told officers that he and at least two of the people in the car had smoked crack, consumed cocaine and drank vodka all night at a home in Myrtle Beach, then one of the suspects ordered the victim to go to the bank to withdraw money.

Officers arrested Hubert Lee Washington, 49, and charged him with Kidnapping, Attempted Armed Robbery, Unlawful Carrying of a Pistol, Possession of a Stolen Pistol, and Possession of a Firearm during the Commission of a Violent Crime.

They also arrested Patrice Olivia Wallace, 42, of Hopkins, SC, and charged her with Possession of Marijuana. The third detained suspect was released without charges.
