Supreme Court justice halts Missouri execution

U.S. Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito has halted the execution of a Missouri inmate who had been scheduled to die just after midnight Tuesday.

Alito hasn't explained why he issued the order suspending Russell Bucklew's execution.

But the 46-year-old has a congenital condition that causes weakened and malformed blood vessels and tumors in his nose and throat.

In 1996, Bucklew tracked down an ex-girlfriend, raped her and killed the man she was living with.
