"Structurally deficient" bridge near Loris to be replaced

The South Carolina Department of Transportation is planning to replace a bridge on Hemingway Road in the next few months.
The bridge goes over Cowpens Swamp near Loris and had been rated as structurally deficient by SCDOT Maintenance Forces, according to a news release.
The project is scheduled to begin on September 8 and the bridge should reopen to traffic around December 29, according to the release.
The proposed detour route is Circle Bay Drive and West Bear Grass Road.
