After delays due to winter weather last week, the installation of steel girders for the northbound bridge will be set over the Highways 17/707 intersection starting tonight at 10 p.m.
The work will end Tuesday at 6 a.m. and then resume Tuesday at 10 p.m. - Wednesday at 6 a.m., weather permitting.
While the work is going on, drivers will not be allowed to turn left from Highway 17 Bypass at the 707/Farrow Parkway intersection.
Drivers traveling on Highway 707 and Farrow Parkway when approaching the intersection will not be allowed to travel through the intersection or make left turns. Only right turns will be allowed off of SC 707 and Farrow Parkway onto US 17 Bypass.
In a news release Monday, Horry County recommended the following:
"The recommended access for south bound US 17 Bypass and SC 707 wanting to go east on Farrow Parkway would be to use the US 17/SC 544 Interchange. The recommended access for north bound US 17 and Farrow Parkway wanting to go west on SC 707 would be to use the Fantasy Harbour/US 17 Interchange. The alternative detours/routes are placed on signage throughout the vicinity of the project."
The county says there will also be "limited nighttime lane closures on a portion of the inside north bound lane on US Highway 17 Bypass from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. on Wednesday, February 5, and Thursday, February 6, from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Again this will reduce traffic down to one lane going north bound on a very small section of US Highway 17 Bypass near the construction project."
