Statewide AMBER Alert cancelled

25-year-old David Dietz is considered armed and extremely dangerous. Police say he abducted Eva Arce-Perez (next) and a seven-month-old boy.

A statewide AMBER alert has been cancelled in South Carolina and a hostage situation has erupted in Madison County, Georgia.

West Columbia Police issued an AMBER alert for a 7-month-old baby boy and his mother early Sunday morning after they say the two were abducted amid gunfire Saturday night.

Both mother and son were considered to be in extreme danger.

Georgia authorities issued a similar alert when SLED requested their assistance after receiving word the suspect may be headed towards the Atlanta area.

David Dietz, 25, is believed to be holding three hostages: 17-year-old Jamie Lynn Burgess; Dietz's estranged wife, 29-year-old Eva Arce-Perez; and their son, 7-month-old Allim David Dietz at a hotel in Madison County, Georgia which is just outside of Atlanta.

West Columbia Police say they were kidnapped Saturday night from their Midlands home.

Gunshots have been reported, but there are no reports of injuries.
