Son charged with father's murder

Lucas James Permenter is charged with first degree murder.

On Sunday, North Myrtle Beach police arrested a 36-year-old man and charged him with the murder of his father.

Lucas James Permenter is being held at J. Reuben Long Detention Center.

Police responded to a medical call at the home of Eugene R. Permenter, 59, on 50th Avenue North Saturday. A relative told police he hadn't heard from Eugene in a couple of days and that he hadn't returned any phone calls, according to the police report.

The doors to the home were locked, and relatives told police they broke the right bedroom window to get inside and found Eugene lying on the floor in a pool of blood.

Horry County Coroner Robert Edge said Eugene Permenter died from "massive hemorrhaging from a knife wound." He added the victim did not die on Saturday, it was some time before that.

While police were on scene, they say Eugene's son Lucas returned to the home, which he shared with his father. According to the police report, Lucas "admitted and openly confessed to killing his father."

Police arrested Lucas and charged him with 1st Degree Murder.
