Solicitor readies SLED report on Carolina Forest shooting
Mon, 14 Dec 2009 18:29:52 GMT —
The 15th Circuit Solicitor's office is preparing to release the full South Carolina Law Enforcement Division report on its investigation into the fatal shooting of a student at Carolina Forest High School in October.
Officials from the solicitor's office say they are redacting names, Social Security numbers and other personal information from the report before it is released to the news media Monday afternoon.
Last week, Solicitor Greg Hembree announced that he would not file criminal charges against school resource officer Marcus Rhodes in the shooting death of 16-year-old Trevor Varinecz. Hembree said there was clear evidence that Varinecz intended to commit suicide when he attacked Rhodes with a knife and that Rhodes' actions were justified in defending himself.
NewsChannel 15 and CarolinaLive.com will have more on the SLED report as it becomes available.
