SLED investigation of Latta finds no wrongdoing

An investigation by the State Law Enforcement Division into allegations of illegal activities on a computer at the Latta Town Hall is closed after investigators found no wrongdoing, according to Thom Berry the spokesman for SLED.

Latta's town council members requested the investigation but never revealed the specifics of what they were asking SLED to investigate.

The Latta Town Hall was closed last Monday and part of the day last Tuesday during the investigation.

Many residents criticized town officials for shutting down the Town Hall, saying it could have remained open for residents to pay water bills and handle other matters.

A town official said they found it best toshut down the town hall to secure the computer that they thought may have been used to commit illegal activities.
