The State Law Enforcement Division is investigating an officer involved shooting in Florence County Thursday morning, according to Captain Michael Nunn with the Florence County Sheriff's Office.
Nunn said a Florence County sheriff's deputy was trying to stop a car on Lucas Street around 1:30 a.m. Thursday.
He said the driver wouldn't stop and led the deputy on a chase onto Clement Street through Ingram Street. The driver eventually ran into a home on North Dunbar Street.
When the deputy got out of his patrol car, Nunn said the suspect tried to run him over.
The deputy fired into the car multiple times in self-defense, according to Nunn.
Three people were in the car.
Terrance Cochrane, 26, of Florence was arrested at the scene and was charged with Possession of Crack Cocaine With Intent to Distribute (First Offense).
Maurice Laquan Bostick, 27, was taken to the hospital for treatment of gunshot wounds and was later released and charged with Possession of Crack Cocaine With Intent to Distribute.
A third suspect is receiving medical treatment for gunshot wounds at an area hospital and will be formally charged at a later date.
Nunn wouldn't say which one of the suspects was behind the wheel.
South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the wreck.
The deputy has been placed on administrative leave with pay until further notice, which Nunn said is customary in these incidents.
