Skeletal remains identified as male

According to Lt. Robert Kegler with the Horry County Police Department, skeletal remains were found on Tidewater Rd. near Waccamaw on Saturday.

Horry County Coroner Robert Edge explained that the remains appear to be that of a male, 20 years old or older.

The skeletal remains appear to have been there for quite some time, possibly several years, according to Kegler.

They were scattered as if an animal had possibly moved them around in a wooded area, said Kegler.

As of right now, police say it's unlikely that foul play was involved.

They explained that it could be weeks before lab test results are complete.

According to Horry County Coroner Robert Edge, more remains were found on Sunday in that area and those will be packaged and sent to a lab in Texas.
