Horry County police say one man is dead in connection with a murder suicide in Loris.
Police responded to a shooting on Flag Patch Road around 4 p.m. Friday.
Dan Rouse, 46, of Loris was pronounced dead inside the home from a single gunshot wound to the back of the head, according to Deputy Coroner Darris Fowler.
The incident is believed to be in connection with a Columbus County, North Carolina shooting pending forensic evaluations from State Law Enforcement Division, according to Sergeant Robert Kegler.
Rouse is believed to be the murder victim, Kegler said.
Rouse's uncle called an ambulance when he found Rouse on the floor with blood around him.
The uncle told police he hadn't heard from Rouse since December 31, so he went to the house to check on him, pried the back door open, and found him on the floor.
Friday night neighbors told NewsChannel 15 Rouse will be missed.
"It's a loss. It's a real big loss to the neighborhood, because he was good to everybody. He fixed a lot of people's cars, even mine," Clara Mae Dixon Graham.
No arrests have been made. Horry County police are investigating.
