A 7-year-old Darlington boy was bitten three times by a mixed breed dog on Barfield Street in Darlington, Monday afternoon.
The boy crawled in the fence where the dog was being kept and that's when the animal bit the child, according to Darlington Police Chief Danny Watson.
The child was taken to a hospital, where he received stitches.
Darlington City Animal Control responded to the incident and called the SC Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC) as they're required to do in dog biting incidents.
Watson says the animal will be quarantined for 10 days to see if it shows any signs of rabies, which is standard operating procedure.
