Second arrest made in attempted armed robbery "prank"

A second man has been arrested following an attempted armed robbery in North Myrtle Beach Saturday morning, according to city of North Myrtle Beach spokesman Pat Dowling.

Matthew Smith, 22, of Tabor City was arrested Tuesday afternoon.

He faces an Attempted Armed Robbery charge and a charge of Criminal Conspiracy.

The incident happened at Dodge's Store at 2609 S. Highway 17 Saturday at 6 a.m.

Michael Glen Riden, 46, of Kannapolis, North Carolina was arrested over the weekend after the incident.

Officers issued an arrest warrant for Smith.

On Tuesday, police spotted Smith leaving Atlantic Beach on US 17. He pulled over into a parking lot and an officer arrested him.

Smith is being held at the J. Reuben Long Detention Center on $25,000 bond.
