Second arrest in deadly Kingstree coach crash

A second person has been arrested in connection with a crash on February 18 that killed Sonya Burgess, the Kingstree High School girls basketball coach.

Kwandeesha J. Taylor, 21, was booked into the Williamsburg County Detention Center Monday morning on a charge of Leaving the Scene of a Collision Failing to Render Aid.

Taylor was driving a 2011 Chevy when she ran over the deceased body of Burgess


which was lying in the road, according to the warrant.

It says she didn't stay to give information or render aid to Burgess.

Daveline Holmes, 37, of Georgetown County was charged on February 20 with Reckless Homicide Resulting In Death and Hit and Run involving Death in the wreck that killed Sonya Burgess, 39.

Troopers say Holmes was going the wrong way on Highway 52 near Kingstree. They say Burgess tried to avoid hitting Holmes' car head on and flipped her SUV. Officers say Holmes kept going.

Taylor has been released from jail on a $237 bond.
