filed a lawsuit against the Marlboro County School District Tuesday saying it owes the company $690,000 of unpaid work for construction of the new Blenheim Elementary Middle School.
The school opened in January.
The company says it entered into a written contract with the school district in 2009 for architectural and design services for the construction of the school.
The suit says the basic services consisted of schematic design, design development, construction documents and administration of the construction contract, as well as civil, structural, plumbing, mechanical and electrical engineering, food service consult
, landscape design consultant and fire protection design, as defined in the contract.
The district refused to pay SFL+A for additional services and the full amount of its basic services, according to the lawsuit.
It further states the district immediately and wrongfully terminated SFL+A without providing the requisite notice.
The school district's attorney, David Duff, says they're not surprised by the lawsuit and question the claim itself.
Duff says they're still analyzing the suit and will file a response to the complaint within the time allowed by the court.
