For the third month in a row, South Carolina's unemployment rate stayed at 8.1 percent.
The number of people on unemployment in August was at 175,602, an increase of 1,165.
Nationally, the unemployment rate dropped to 7.3 percent from July's estimate of 7.4 percent.
Marion County has the highest unemployment rate in the state at 15.1%. Its rate stayed flat over July.
Here's how the other counties in our area did in August. Marlboro County came in at 13.6%, Dillon County at 12.3%, Darlington County at 9.8%, Florence County at 9.5%, Georgetown County at 8.1% and Horry County at 8%.
Lexington County has the lowest unemployment rate in the state at 6.5%.
