The South Carolina Department of Employment and Workforce reports March's unemployment rate decreased to 5.5% from February's rate of 5.7%.
The last time the South Carolina's rate was at this level was in March 2008.
Nationally, the unemployment rate was unchanged at 6.7 percent in March.
Here are the rates for the counties in our viewing area. Marion County has the highest unemployment rate in the state at 10.4 percent. Marlboro came in at 8.7 percent, Dillon at 8.1 percent and Horry County at 6.5. Georgetown County's rate is 6.0 percent. Darlington and Florence counties are tied at 6.3 percent.
