SC sees fewer traffic deaths during peak summer season

The South Carolina Department of Public Safety calls the period between Memorial Day and Labor Day "The 100 Deadly Days of Summer," because it's when the majority of traffic deaths occur.

This year, that time period encompassed 102 days.

During it, the South Carolina Highway Patrol saw a 2.8% reduction from 2012.

In 2012, there were 212 people killed in wrecks during that period and in 2013, there were 206.

South Carolina had 552 fatalities in 2012 and so far in 2013, there have been 472.
