SC Cares Director: Sugar gliders are not pets

A tiny pet at a Georgetown County animal rescue center is now 15 years old.

But volunteers at SC Cares say the 15-year-old sugar glider really shouldn't be a pet at all.

"Grace" was rescued from a sugar glider mill in California, similar to a puppy mill.

These pocket pets may be cuddly, but SC Cares Director Cindy Hedrick says they're wild animals that shouldn't be in cages.

Hendrick said she wants people to become more aware of "glider mills" and not buy the animals from breeders.
