Restaurant owner offers $10,000 reward after burglary

John Venuti, the owner of Captain John's Seafood Grill in Pawleys Island, is offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of burglars who broke into his restaurant and two neighboring businesses Saturday night.

The restaurant is on Ocean Highway next to Pinki Nail and My Sister's Books, which were also hit.

Venuti said he showed up at the restaurant just before 9 a.m. Sunday to let the carpet cleaner in. He said the alarm didn't go off as it normally does and he realized he'd been burglarized.

The person or people who did it broke into all three businesses through the back doors.

He said he decided to offer the reward because he's been robbed several times during his 25 years as a business owner.

"It hurts, and it's personal now," Venuti said, "If I can find someone out there who can help me. Maybe someone knows something. Money talks."

The Georgetown County Sheriff's Office is investigating the burglaries. If you have any information, you can call (843) 546-5102.
