WASHINGTON (AP) - Police say the U.S. Capitol was put on a secuirty lockdown amid reports of possible shots fired outside the building, but the lockdown has since been lifted.
People standing outside the Supreme Court across the street from Congress were hurried into the court building by authorities.
Police say a female suspect rammed a barricade at the White House and then drove away. A congressman told the Associated Press that the woman was killed by police outside of the Capitol.
Police added that the shooting is an isolated incident, not terrorism.
In a notice distributed by email, the U.S. Capitol Police advised everyone to "close, lock and stay away from external doors and windows.The notice said gunshots have been reported on Capitol Hill. There are unconfirmed reports of an officer injured.
