Skeletal remains found in December 2013 on Tidewater Road during a search for Heather Elvis have been identified.

Horry County Deputy Coroner Tamara Willard says the remains have been confirmed as those of David Matthew Mino.

Mino was last seen on July 4, 2011. He was 47 years old at that time.

Mino lived in the Surfside Beach and Garden City area, Willard said.

She said the cause and manner of death are still under investigation.

According to a release from the Horry County Police Department Mino was reported missing by his family in July of 2011.

Detectives with the Horry County Police Department's Major Crimes Unit continue to investigate how Mino died, according to the release.

A yellow moped that David was operating at the time of his disappearance remains missing, the release said.

Detectives with the Horry County Police Department are asking anyone with information leading to the cause of David Mino's death to contact them at 915-TIPS. Anonymous information is will be accepted, the release said.

In February, the Coroner's Office registered the remains in an online database run by the US Department of Justice called National Missing and Unidentified Persons System, or NamUs, to help identify the remains.
