Remains found confirmed to be those of missing baby, investigation continues
Myrtle Beach, S.C. (WPDE) —
According to the Horry County Coroner's Office, the remains of a 9 month old female, Aaliyana McCoy, were found in the Socastee area on September 23, 2017.
The remains were sent to Charleston to determine the cause of death.
The remains found are believed to be that of the missing child of Ladasha Harriet, the coroner's office believes McCoy died on or about July 15, 2017, when the child was 9 months-old, at an unknown time.
This is being investigated as a homicide.
Ladasha Harriett, the mother of the baby, has been charged with homicide by child abuse, according to police.
Police say Daquan Jamal Simmons is also being charged with homicide by child abuse.
Harriet and Simmons appeared before a Circuit Court Judge for a bond hearing at 3 p.m. on Sunday, no bond was set for either of them.
The Myrtle Beach Police are investigating this incident.
