UPDATE: 419 adults and children stayed in 19 Red Cross shelters Thursday night across South Carolina to stay warm in this winter storm.
The following Red Cross shelters open in our area. If you go, you are urged to bring prescription medications, pillows, blankets, personal items and clothing. If you have special dietary requirements you may bring them with you. Pets are not allowed.

Screven Baptist Church in Maryville, in conjunction with the Southeast Baptist Association, has portable shower units set up and available to the public. They have six units (three for men and three for women) and welcome anyone affected by electrical outages who wants a hot shower to go to the church until 9 p.m. Thursday and from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday. Towels will be made available, but people should bring their own toiletries. The church is located at 2221 South Island Road, Georgetown.
