Red Cross issues response report on month after Windsor Green condo fire

When a brush fire burned out of control March 16, burning 109 condos in the Windsor Green subdivision of Carolina Forest, the Red Cross responded to help the victims and the first responders.

Thursday, the agency released its report on their response to the disaster.

The Red Cross assisted 194 people who lost their homes.

They will continue to work with the families for another 60 days to make sure all their needs are met. To date, they have provided 60 health service contacts, 84 mental health contacts, assisted with 29 welfare requests (family members looking for their loved ones), and handled 754 hotline calls to the Chapter.

They sent 16 response vehicles to the fire, provided 1,760 meals, 4,915 snacks and drinks, distributed 220 comfort kits, 198 clean up supplies, and mobilized 76 disaster volunteers.
